Day 9 – WITNESSING

Scripture Reading: Romans 1:16

Golden-winged warblers are birds that can sense a storm coming up to two days before it arrives. When they know a storm is coming, they begin communicating with one another and even alert other birds. After a while they all leave the area and fly together to a place of safety. Some species of birds don’t listen to the signals of the golden-winged warblers, probably because they don’t understand the message. However, all of the golden-winged warblers, and any other birds that do understand, heed the warning and fly out of danger. As a Christian, you may sense that without Jesus Christ, people have a big problem. What is one thing that can happen to people who don’t know Jesus? (Encourage everyone to answer.) Lots of things can happen, but one of the most important involves where people will spend eternity. It won’t be in heaven if they don’t know and trust in Jesus. I’d call that a really big storm, wouldn’t you? Knowing this can motivate us to tell people about Jesus. Like the golden-winged warbler, we can warn them of the upcoming storm of spending eternity without God. Have you ever told someone about salvation in Jesus Christ? What happened? How did you feel about it? Let’s practice telling others about salvation in Jesus. Pretend that another family member is a new kid you met in school that you’ve just run into. How would you share the gospel with that person? Let’s take turns, with one of us sharing the good news and another person hearing it. Let’s pray together, asking God for the opportunity to tell more people about salvation in Jesus.

Lectura Bíblica: Romanos 1:16

Las currucas de alas doradas son pájaros que pueden sentir una tormenta que viene hasta dos días antes de que llegue. Cuando saben que viene una tormenta, empiezan a comunicarse entre ellos e incluso alertan a otras aves. Después de un tiempo, todos salen de la zona y vuelan juntos a un lugar de seguridad. Algunas especies de aves no escuchan las señales de las currucas de alas doradas, probablemente porque no entienden el mensaje. Sin embargo, todas las currucas de alas doradas, y cualquier otro pájaro que entienda, escuchan la advertencia y salen del peligro. Como cristiano, puedes sentir que, sin Jesucristo, la gente tiene un gran problema. ¿Qué es lo que puede suceder a las personas que no conocen a Jesús? (Anime a todos a responder.) Muchas cosas pueden suceder, pero una de las más importantes implica donde la gente va a pasar la eternidad. No estará en el cielo si no conocen y confían en Jesús. Yo diría que es una tormenta muy grande, ¿no? Saber esto puede motivarnos a decirle a la gente acerca de Jesús. Al igual que la curruca de alas doradas, podemos advertirles de la próxima tormenta de pasar la eternidad sin Dios. ¿Alguna vez le has dicho a alguien acerca de la salvación en Jesucristo? ¿Qué pasó? ¿Cómo te sentiste al respecto? Practiquemos diciendo a otros acerca de la salvación en Jesús. Imagine que otro miembro de la familia es un chico nuevo que conoció en la escuela. ¿Cómo compartirías el evangelio con esa persona? Tomemos turnos, con uno de nosotros compartiendo las buenas noticias y otra persona escuchándolo. Oremos juntos, pidiendo a Dios la oportunidad de decirle a más personas acerca de la salvación en Jesús.
